![]() ![]() Plus, studies reviewed by the EPA have shown that low levels of ozone-the chief ingredient of smog-don’t effectively destroy indoor pollutants. Makers of ozone generators often claim that the devices emit safe levels of ozone, but in the past, our tests found that even at low settings, some ozone generators quickly exceeded the Food and Drug Administration’s limit of 0.05 parts per million for medical devices. This can result in dangerous indoor air quality, and CR does not recommend these types of air purifiers. Ozone generators: These machines produce ozone, a molecule that can react with certain pollutants to alter their chemical composition. Make sure to budget for replacements accordingly: Activated carbon filters usually cost up to $50 each. Activated carbon filters get saturated faster than mechanical filters, though, and require replacement more frequently-every three months, as opposed to every six to 12 months for mechanical filters. Because activated carbon filters don’t combat particles, many air purifiers will have both an activated carbon filter and a mechanical filter. But they’re not particularly effective against formaldehyde, ammonia, or nitrogen oxide. Mechanical filters need to be replaced every six to 12 months they can cost upward of $200 per filter but typically cost no more than $80.Īctivated carbon filters: Unlike mechanical filters, these filters use activated carbon to capture certain types of gases, including some odor-causing molecules. (Some filters are labeled “HEPA-type” or “HEPA-like”-these have not been certified to meet the requirements of a true HEPA filter but may still perform adequately in our tests.) Mechanical filters don’t help with gases or odors. While they work on microscopic particles, they can also remove larger particles (including dust, pollen, and some mold spores) when they’re suspended in the air. ![]() ![]() Filters with very fine mesh are called HEPA filters. Mechanical filters: These purifiers use fans to force air through a dense web of fine fibers that trap particles. Others are ineffective, or even potentially harmful to your health. ![]() But if you’re sitting next to a fireplace in the living room for extended periods of time, a room air purifier there may not be a bad idea." A room air purifier may be worth it too, say, in a bedroom, if you sleep with your pet.ĭifferent air purifiers work using a range of technologies. Similarly, he says, "a whole-house system will work at filtering all the air that passes through it via the HVAC system. While your house might feel sufficiently warm, you might have a particularly drafty room with old, poorly sealed windows placing a space heater there would make the room more comfortable. Think of a room air purifier as a supplemental unit, like a space heater in the context of a whole-house heating system, explains Misha Kollontai, who oversees testing of air purifiers at Consumer Reports. They’re separate from whole-house air purifier systems and air filters, which are integrated into a home’s heating, ventilating, and air conditioning system and designed to clean the air in the entire house. Portable room air purifiers are designed to filter the air in a single room. ![]() ![]() ![]() After four months Elizabeth cried out one day that she could see. Arriving at the convent, the child was clothed with a votive dress in honor of St. Rita fervently to deliver their daughter from approaching blindness. Her parents, assured by the physicians that the child’s condition was so serious that medical aid could be of no avail, decided to send her to the Augustinian Convent at Cascia, beseeching St. The other miracle happened to Elizabeth Bergamini, a young girl in danger of losing her sight from smallpox. Hence we should be persuaded that this fragrance has its origin through divine intervention. Furthermore this odor diffuses itself in a manner above the usual laws of nature. The first miracle consists of that pleasing scent emanating from the remains of the Saint’s body, the existence of which is confirmed by many reliable witnesses and trustworthy tradition, so that to doubt concerning this fact would be absurd moreover no natural cause can be given for the existence of this odor, as we see from the physical research which has been made by men most skilled in such things. Here is a record of these three miracles as noted in the official decree of canonization. ![]() It took three astonishing miracles to pave the way for her canonization, proving that the faithful can pray to this powerful saint without hesitation. Yet, it wasn’t until 1900 that Rita was officially canonized. According to author Bert Ghezzi, “Three days later, Domenico Angeli, a notary of Cascia, recorded eleven miracles that occurred upon the saint’s death.”Įver since then she has been widely known as a miraculous intercessor, with countless miracles occurring through her heavenly intercession, especially for impossible causes. Rita was a powerful intercessor, always praying for those most in need.Īfter dying from tuberculosis, Rita was almost immediately connected to multiple miracles. Rita of Cascia was a humble and holy woman who lived in the 15th century. The "Patron Saint of the Impossible" has always been associated with the miraculous. ![]() ![]() ![]() After moving back to Rome Caesar had goals of starting a career as a lawyer and being an influential member in Roman society. ![]() Caesar was successful in doing this and upon the death of Sulla in 78 BCE. He needed to convince Nicomedes to allow him to obtain a fleet of ships for the Roman Navy. Caesar was ordered then by his general to be an embassy to Nicomedes, the King of Bithynia. The civic crown is awarded to any solider for saving the life a Roman citizen during battle. Caesar was then elected to be on the staff of a military legate, after receiving the civic crown in 79 BCE. Caesar immediately went into hiding, until later when his influential friends would be able to give him pardon and allow his marriage to exist. Caesar refused to divorce his wife and Sulla proscribed him, meaning that he was on the list to be executed. This was all occurring after 85 BCE when Sulla was in power and decided to order Caesar to divorce Cornelia. After being married to Caesar, Cornelia gave birth to Caesar’s only legitimate child who was then named Julia. Cornelia was the daughter of a prominent member in the Popular faction, this shows early signs of Caesar’s wants for more by using marriage to elevate his standing in society. When Caesar reached the age of 18 he married his wife Cornelia. At the young age of 16 Caesar’s father passed away, causing him to become very close with his mother Aurelia. Caesar’s family was still far from rich even though they were considered to be Roman aristocrats. Caesar’s Aunt Julia was wife to Gaius Marius, who at the time of Caesar’s birth was the leader of the Popular faction of Roman Politics. Gaius Julius Caesar was born in Rome, Italy in the year 100 BCE to the patrician family of Gaius Julius Caesar and his wife Aurelia. ![]() ![]() Take note of the customized diet and exercise tips under each body type and employ these suggestions in your sharp routine. My sense is that having an example will best help you “see” which body type you most align with. I am also going to include different pictures of popular celebrities for illustrative purposes. I want you to think about these body types as a kind of spectrum that you will fall into and not a box that you wedge yourself into with a label. In other words, it is possible, if not highly probable, that your body type is mostly ectomorph, endomorph or mesomorph but not an exact match. One of the main things people do not know (or forget) when talking about ectomorphs, mesomorphs and endomorphs is that Sheldon offered these on a scale, meaning that it is not expected an individual fit perfectly within a given body type. I will also include diet information that speaks in generalities but will offer some basic insight into what may work best for that somatotype. I am going to walk you through each of somatotype (male body type) and give you detailed information regarding each physique. These three body types are ectomorphs, mesomorphs and endomorphs. In 1954, Sheldon’s book was published, Atlas of Men, where he offered his three male body types to the world. While there has always been a great deal of disagreement about a so called “link” between a person’s build and their personality, Sheldon did offer a fairly good blue-print that is useful to weight-lifters, body builders and dudes like you who go to the gym. Sheldon was an American Psychologist who suggested a connection between the male body type and his psychological temperament. I can now tap here to go back and then I could play, (ring, ring) and see what I've got. You could see I've tapped the Stop button there at the top. So I'm going to tap record, (metronome ticking, Gary speaking, ring ring). Something for your phone to play when somebody calls or you get a text message and it will help you identify who it is who is calling or texting you and maybe just put a smile on your face because of the sound or music you've chosen. If it is not going to sound perfect that's fine. What I really want to show here is a very simple way to create a ringtone from anything. While you can actually take a song, convert it to a regular audio track and bring it here in GarageBand, there are a lot more steps involved. But copyright protection often prevents you from recording a song directly. Now as someone who loves music I cringe at the idea of recording something with a microphone that is playing on a speaker, especially if it is music. So it could be any sound that you can get in your environment or any sound that you could play, say, on another device and have it come out of the speakers. But you could record anything that your mic can pickup. ![]() Now I'm going to tap Record here and then I'm going to record just my voice saying something and use that as a ringtone. So now whatever you record, whether it is 4 seconds or 14 seconds that will be the length of this track. You want to tap that and set it to Automatic instead. You don't want to have a set time for recording. That's going to show you that you've got one section here, Section A, and it is 8 bars. Now the next things you want to do is tap this Plus button all the way here to the right. It'll still count into the beginning of the recording but you won't hear the ticks of the metronome as you record. Make sure the metronome is white, not blue. One is, you want to turn Off the metronome. Now there is a couple of things you want to change before you record. It will start a new project and go right into Voice Record Mode. You can tap on this or I can tap on the little microphone there at the bottom left. But the one we're going to use here is the simplest and it is just the voice or Audio Recorder. Now you can use a variety of different instruments and mechanisms for recording music and sound. This is what you're probably see when you first use GarageBand and you don't have anything there. So I'm going to tap the Plus button there at the top. But what you're basically going to do is you are going to create a new song. Now what you see when you first launch GarageBand may not look like this. Once you have that app just launch GarageBand. Now I'm going to show you the absolute simplest way to do it. The way to do this is in the GarageBand App. Now on your iPhone you can choose from a variety of different ringtones that Apple provides or you can download ringtones from the iTunes Store. ![]() Join us and get exclusive content and course discounts. I didn’t know this starting out, but you can store a lot of different items in bins. Use storage items like bins, barrels, and bags. I do this with my smiting industry and carpentry, as you can see with my wood stockpile. Having a general stockpile is good, but having smaller, custom stockpiles for workshops can make things way easier. Set up multiple stockpiles so that your dwarves can have a direct line from your workshops. You will have to edit your stockpiles and erase the square where you want your stairs, otherwise your won’t be able to mine the stairs out in the first place. Your dwarves should now have to travel less to pick up and deposit goods. You can put stairs in your main stockpile and have your workshops above or below that. So here are some things I figured out to help make life easier. My dwarves would have to run across the entire thing to get one item all the way at the back, and it was horrible. In my first few fortresses my stockpile ballooned to a massive size and was constantly filling to the brim. Getting your stockpiles and workshops to work well together can be a real pain. You can now simply hit i and then f to re-allow corpses that you want hauled (such as those generating miasma in a bad spot). This is a good way to prevent your dwarves from rounding up every dead body a monster slayer leaves behind in your cavern. Setting it to forbid other non-hunted dead will make it so your dwarves only collect friendly corpses, or corpses of the animals you hunt. Under sieges and forbidding you will see an ‘Other Dead’ option. If you’ve ever noticed that the second you breach a cavern your dwarves start running around in there before its safe, this is likely why. In automated workshops, turn off automatic web collection. Most of the stuff is self explanatory and you may set at your own convenience, but I recommend two things: It contains a lot of VERY useful options to toggle on for your dwarves, such as automation of certain workshops, whether or not your dwarves should haul or ignore certain things in the world, how to behave during sieges, and what tasks children perform. Standing orders is a tab you will find in the labor menu. A lot of this stuff comes from me messing up a dozen runs and restarting. This is a collection of useful things I’ve learned and figured out since I started playing the game on release. ![]() |
